John Bailey (rekkanoryo)
About John
John joined the Guifications project in 2005. His first code-related assignment was to implement compatibility macros to make what would be Guifications 2.12 work with both Pidgin 1.5.0 and the then CVS HEAD version of Pidgin. Since then, John has added several plugins to the Purple Plugin Pack, including the third rewrite of the Slash Exec plugin.
Relation to Pidgin
John has been a long-time user of the IM client Pidgin. Since 2004, he has been offering any knowledge of Pidgin and available plugins in the project's IRC support and development channel. In 2005, shortly after joining the Guifications project, John began to contribute patches for both the Pidgin codebase and its website. Several of these patches revolved around moving functions from the serv_* API to more fitting places within libpurple, a bug fix or two in the new status API for the 2.x.y series, and some contributions to the website's FAQ page.
In April 2007, John was officially added to the ranks of the Crazy Patch Writers, longtime contributors whose efforts are recognized by this distinction. After some further patches to fix obscure bugs and a lot of documentation work, Sean Egan promoted John to a full Pidgin developer in early November 2007, after which John proceeded to completely rewrite Pidgin's manual page as his first "large" project.

Miscellaneous
- This Pidgin ticket is a prime example of why I feel the pain of every person who has to do user support.
- "Sandwich" from XKCD is my favorite comic to date, but "Compiler Complaint" is certainly in the top 5 too.
